Welcome to the 'City of Light'!

The ‘City of Light’ is our favorite city in the world, and was our home for more than a decade. Our son was born in Paris, we are thankful to maintain a flat there, and we spend as much time in the city as possible. It is our second home, and we want you to experience the Paris that we know and love by sharing our favorites. Even if you’ve visited Paris many times in the past, we promise new experiences for everyone.

Meet your private guide and pick up your fleet of e-bikes in the quaint city of Amboise. From Amboise you will venture out through forests, vineyards, and small country roads to the village of Chenonceau.

The Château de Chenonceau spans the Cher river in the Loire Valley and was first mentioned in writings beginning in the 11th century. Beginning in 1559 it was from here that Queen Catherine de’ Medici managed the Kingdom of France from her study. The Château de Chenonceau boasts being the second most visited châteaux in all of France, only after Versailles.

Savor a wine tasting at a local vineyard proudly managed by a 6th generation winemaking family with a history in making wine in this region dating back to 1875. As independent winemakers, their vineyard holds the esteemed classification of "High Environmental Value." Experience a range of wines, from dry whites to light reds and rosé bubbles.

After the wine tasting, hop back on your bike and ride through the picturesque landscape back to Amboise.

Bring all of your farmers market purchases for a relaxed picnic lunch along the Grand Canal in the lovely gardens of Versailles.

St. Chapelle, located in the heart of Paris on the Île de la Cité, was constructed in the 13th century under the patronage of King Louis IX (Saint Louis). This stunning Gothic chapel showcases the architectural brilliance of the medieval era, as well as the French monarchy's devotion to God and artistic vision.

The Louvre is one of the most famous and visited art museums in the world. Originally built as a fortress in the 12th century, it later evolved into a royal palace. In the 16th century, during the Renaissance, King Francis I began to display his private art collection at the Louvre, marking the museum's beginnings. Over the centuries, the Louvre expanded and today it holds an incredible collection of art, artifacts, and historical objects from around the world.

The Musée d'Orsay holds an impressive collection of art from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Opened in 1986, the museum was born out of the restoration of the former Gare d'Orsay train station, an architectural masterpiece dating back to 1900. The museum's collection showcases works by renowned artists like Monet, Van Gogh, Degas, and many others.

Enjoy a relaxing afternoon to shop, visit a special neighborhood, or stroll along the Seine (or take a nap!).

This restaurant, owned by a French chef that lived in the UK and named it after his nickname while in London, serves up unbelievable small plates for the table to share (or not to share!). Sit at high tables, watch the chefs in the kitchen through the glass wall, and celebrate your last night.

Is there a minimum number of guests required for this trip?

• There’s no minimum number of participants required, but please note that the fewer people in the group, the higher the price per person. Larger groups help keep individual costs lower by sharing fixed expenses like transportation and guides.

What information will be provided before the trip?

• Each traveler will receive a complete, dynamic itinerary that includes travel logistics, hotel details, tours, entrance information, meeting points, and more—everything you need to feel fully prepared.

Will there be a group meeting before departure?

• Yes! We’ll schedule a pre-trip meeting (either in person or via Google Meet) to go over final details, answer questions, and ensure everyone is ready and excited.

Does Kairos Tours provide a Tour Director?

• A Tour Director can be arranged to accompany your group upon request. Please note this may affect the overall cost of the trip.

Will the itinerary change from what’s currently listed?

• Kairos Tours will make every reasonable effort to provide this trip in accordance with the descriptions provided. Although it is unlikely that we will have to make any changes to your reservation or cancel confirmed reservations, we reserve the right to do so should it become necessary or advisable, in our sole discretion. We’ll always prioritize the best possible experience for your group!

Are trip prices guaranteed?

• All pricing is based on current estimates and subject to change due to factors like group size, travel dates, currency exchange rates, and seasonal variations.

Are meals included in the trip price?

• Lunches and dinners are typically not included in the trip price, allowing for flexibility and the opportunity to explore local dining options. Personal incidentals, such as snacks, souvenirs, and optional activities, are also the responsibility of each traveler.

What if there are unexpected delays or issues?

• Kairos Tours is not responsible for costs or disruptions resulting from circumstances beyond our control, such as flight delays, changes or cancellations, injuries, weather, war, natural disasters, strikes, social discourse, pandemics, etc., and/or other unforeseeable matters.

My name is David Mebane and I am a lifelong traveler that experienced my first international trip as a 2nd grader, and I haven’t stopped since. I founded Fat Tire Tours in Paris, France in 1999 and love showing people around the City of Light. That passion has grown to include other incredible destinations around the globe, and this is the genesis for Kairos Tours. I don't know every destination on the globe, but I do know several well, and I love to take people with me to create experiences and memories that last a lifetime. 

I live in Austin, Texas with my wife Kelly and our son Weston and daughter Caroline. However, we spend as much time as we can elsewhere since there is nothing better than an adventure with family and friends.
